In between my eating escapades, I’ve had to tend to some business affairs all around the Peach State- requiring my presence in the passenger seat of a rental car. It was here that my road warrior colleague taught me a very cool car trick (or at least I think so) and now I’ll reveal it to you…
My travels brought me to Roswell, GA and I opted to seek the advice of fellow Yelpers for a supper suggestion. They guided me to Stoney River, whos interior resembles a lodge and ego revolves around legendary steaks. So, who orders a soup and two starters for dinner at a steakhouse? This girl! Yup, with a plethora of fine filets and fresh seafood entrees, I opted to use my menu blinders and stick to just the first section. Now before you judge, hear me out.
Aja‘s modern Asian decor fits with the Atlanta-based restaurant group, “Here to Serve’s” trendy vibe. The open space and chic bar set up welcome you as you enter and the warmth continues during the dining experience. The (youthful) staff is very attentive and friendly while the tea lit dining room set the mood. Of course I fell in love with the menu and it’s gigantic selection of small plates. My empty stomach and giant eyes wanted them all but with 3 of us dining, we narrowed it down to to a few.
Rocco is gettin’ around and rightfully so! Rocco Mangel has been working the South Florida restaurant scene for quite some time and has established himself through his own chain of restaurants- Rocco’s Tacos, now with 3 locations. The original is in West Palm, the second is in Central Boca, and the newest is in downtown Fort Lauderdale. I have experienced all three and can tell you that the upbeat, trendy atmosphere, the fresh guac (made table side), and the Prickly Pear Margarita are what keep me coming back.

The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone should make everyone’s list who is headed to wine country in search of a fantastic meal in addition to great wine. Set in the hills of St. Helena (right outside Napa), the outdoor view is serene, while the inside view of the kitchen is lively. The beautiful setting is enhanced by the cuisine. UH-MAY-ZING!!! It’s 2 months later, and I can’t stop thinking about it.
The word dude has become famous throughout the years, used in movie titles, nicknames, and everyday lingo, but this past weekend I discovered the most amazing Dude usage of all- Three Olives latest vodka flavor. “Dude” is described as a lemon-lime flavor, but I’ll take the guess work out of it- It’s MOUNTAIN DEW FLAVORED VODKA. It even has the same electric green coloring. Mixed with club soda (or Sprite for those who like it really sweet), this cocktail is amazingly refreshing, especially in the summer!
This is not your Average Flapjack… sweet potatoes turn a popular breakfast item into a delicious and beautiful dish. You’ll be sure to win a few ooh’s and aah’s from your breakfast patrons due to the subtle sweetness and brilliant orange color of these Sweet Potato Pancakes. I like serving this dish for a brunch gathering since the batter can be made ahead of time in just 30 minutes and the cooking time is half of that.
Burger/Hot dog season is here, and while I love me some beef, I wanted to venture into something a little different this Summer. By no means does this replicate a meat patty, but the Black Bean Burger is full of flavor and gentler on the waist line. Inspired by Duffy’s version, interpreted from a few other recipes, and approved by Amanda, my vegetarian expert. Enjoy 🙂
